Nestor Ayala

UFRGS

He is a Professor in the Graduate Program in Industrial Engineering at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil.

He is Co-Director of the Organizational Engineering Center (NEO), where he develops applied research and projects in digital transformation, organizational innovation, and Industry 4.0, working with major companies such as Grupo Boticário, British American Tobacco (BAT), and Tramontina.

He has extensive experience in industrial digitalization strategies, including the development of digital transformation roadmaps and Industry 4.0 implementation in large organizations.

He serves as a member of the Innovation and Technology Council (CITEC) of FIERGS, focusing on Industry 4.0, and has coordinated the RS 4.0 Network.

Internationally, he is recognized among the world’s most cited researchers (Top 2%), serves as a digitalization expert for the United Nations (UN), and is a visiting professor at the Tecnológico de Monterrey (Mexico).

His work bridges academic research, strategic consulting, and applied innovation in digital transformation and industrial systems.
