The Institute of Technology on Immunobiologicals (Bio-Manguinhos) is the unit of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) responsible for research, innovation, technological development and the production of vaccines, diagnostic kits and biopharmaceuticals. Founded in 1976, its production is
aimed primarily at meeting the demands of national public health, although the Institute also has significant international operations thanks to the export of its surplus through United Nations agencies.
Strategic agent of public health policies, being one of the protagonists of the National Immunization Program (PNI), the Institute contributes to Brazilian scientific and technological development through its own technological development projects or in partnerships, as well as through technology transfer agreements with public and private international institutions, in addition to promoting the Professional Master’s Degree on Immunobiological Technology (MPTI), which aims to train qualified professionals to develop new technologies and improve immunobiological production processes.
Bio-Manguinhos is committed not only to delivering the highest possible biological technology products to the Unified Health System (SUS), but also to promoting the sharing of technological knowledge focused on the area of immunobiologicals, whether through its master’s degree professional, whether through the promotion of the International Symposium on Immunobiologicals (ISI).
Created in 1900, the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) promotes health, generates scientific and technological knowledge and acts as an agent of citizenship. Linked to the Ministry of Health, the institution articulates social policies with a development model that aims to ensure the strengthening and consolidation of the Unified Health System (SUS), guaranteeing greater access to health for the population.
