Daniel Nogueira Leitão is a career diplomat at the rank of Counsellor. Since February 2025, he has been coordinating the Interregional Mechanisms Division (CGBRICS) at Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, covering health, environment, energy, disaster management, transport, and tourism, and advising Brazil’s BRICS sherpa during the country’s presidency. Born in Rio de Janeiro, he graduated in Law from PUC-Rio in 2002 and earned a Master’s in Diplomacy from the Rio Branco Institute. His international postings include Angola, the UN Mission in New York, Chile, and Germany, where he worked in political, consular, cultural, and administrative affairs. He also served as Head of the MERCOSUR Economic and Trade Issues Division and completed the High Studies Course (CAE) at the Rio Branco Institute with a thesis on sugar trade negotiations in MERCOSUR. His career is marked by strong involvement in multilateral negotiations and Brazilian foreign policy promotion.
