Fernanda De Negri

Economist with a degree from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), and a Master’s and PhD in Economics from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp). She completed postdoctoral research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and was a visiting researcher at Harvard University.

She has been a researcher at the Institute for Applied Economic Research (Ipea) since 2004, where she also served as Director, focusing on public policy analysis, industrial economics, innovation, and technological development.

In the public sector, she served as an economic advisor at the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade and as Head of Monitoring and Evaluation at the Ministry of Science and Technology.

She has extensive experience in industrial economics, science and technology policy, and health innovation, and is the author of several books and scientific publications in these fields. She received an award at the BNDES Economics Prize and was a finalist for the Jabuti Prize in Economics for the book “Productivity in Brazil: performance and determinants.”

She currently serves as Secretary of Science, Technology and Innovation in Health at the Brazilian Ministry of Health.
