Spartaco Astolf Filho holds a degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Brasília, a post-doctorate in Genetic Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology – United Kingdom, a PhD in Sciences from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and a Master’s in Molecular Biology from UnB. He coordinated the Genomic Network of the Legal Amazon, the Multi-Institutional Postgraduate Program in Biotechnology and the Postgraduate Program in Biodiversity and Biotechnology of the Bionorte Network. He worked on the development of production technologies for: Taq DNA Polymerase (CENBIOT/UFRGS & UnB), Human Insulin (BIOBRÁS & UnB) and Human Growth Hormone (CRISTÁLIA & UFAM). He retired as a Full Professor of Biotechnology. He published 148 articles in scientific journals, applied for 12 invention patents, and supervised 80 master’s and 50 doctoral students. He is currently Professor Emeritus and a member of the Board of Directors of UFAM and also of the Innovation Committee of Cristália Produtos Químicos Farmacêuticos Ltda.
