The V Scientific and Technological Seminar of Bio-Manguinhos took place on May 2, 3 and 4, 2017, in the auditorium of the New Storeroom and Administrative Building of Bio-Manguinhos (NAPA), located at the headquarters of Fiocruz – a beautiful place, full of trees, science and culture.
The target audience were researchers, professionals in the field and graduate students, and the participation was open and free.
The event included workshops and debates on current themes of great interest in the field of immunobiologicals. In all, 60 scientific papers were accepted and their posters were exhibited during the three-day event.
The seminar had the presence of two international guests. Scott Halstead, associate professor of the Department of Medicine at Health Science University – Bethesda, gave the lectures “Yellow Fever17d – The miracle on 66th Street” and “Immunological protection against dengue infection – Vaccine performance”. Larry Anderson, professor and chairman of the Department of Infectious Diseases in Pediatrics at Emory – Children’s Center, addressed the topic “Prospects for new vaccines for respiratory diseases”
In this event there was also a poster exhibition of scientific papers in the areas of Vaccines, Biopharmaceuticals, Reagents for Diagnosis and Management in the area of immunobiologicals. The abstracts were published in the Annals of the Event and there were awards for the best works.
Just before the opening of the event, four workshops were held with experts to discuss key issues for public health in Brazil.
