Patrícia Cristina da Costa Neves holds a degree in Biomedicine from the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro, a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, with part carried out at the AIDS Vaccine Research Lab (UW-Madison-USA) and a master’s degree in Parasitic Biology from the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation.
He has experience in the areas of Immunology and in the Development of Vaccines and Biopharmaceuticals, as well as has been actively active in the areas of Public Health and the defense of Equity in the distribution of Vaccines and Health Products in Low- and Middle-Income Countries. She has been awarded by Women in Science of PDA Brazil, honored by SIBEN-Argentina with the Altruism Award for the Improvement of World Health, for her significant contribution to the development of the RNA platform in Brazil. Along with the quality team, she received the Oswaldo Cruz award granted at the 8th ISI for her work on the development of the control strategy for RNA vaccines at FIOCRUZ. She is an Honorary Associated Professor at the University of New South Wales, Australia, and a member of the Advisory Board of the Chanjo Imperial Hub at Imperial College London. Currently, she is the Coordinator for the Implementation of a Regional Hub for Development and Production of RNA Products at the Vice Directorate of Innovation – Bio-Manguinhos-FIOCRUZ, where she works on the development of RNA-based vaccines and therapies fully developed in Brazil. This initiative seeks regional self-sufficiency in the production of vaccines and medications, as well as the democratization of the RNA platform for the countries of Latin America and Africa. This is the first RNA development and production platform in Latin America.
